Getting Started:

  1. Install Server Side Synchronization Profiler
  2. Navigate to Settings -> Profiler -> New
  3. Provide a name for the profiler record and specify the mailbox you wish to profile
  4. Select the appropriate filtering options
    • By default, Enable Filtering is enabled. This checkbox allows the user to specify filtering options, as well as the specific records to profile. If Enable Filtering is disabled, all events on the specific mailbox will be captured and is not recommended.
  5. Click Save
  6. In the "Records to Profile" grid, click + -> New
  7. In the Profiler Filter record, specify the object type you wish to profile, then, select the record from the lookup on the right -> Click Save & Close
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for any additional records that you wish to profile
  9. Click Save
  10. When qualifying ExchangeSyncIdMapping events occur, you will see them appear in the Profiler Results area
Filter Parameters Explained:
  • Profile Orphaned Records: This checkbox allows the profiler to listen to any Create, Update, or Delete operations that occur on ExchangeSyncIdMapping records that do not resolve to valid ACT items in the currently configured organization. This option is useful for locating items in Exchange that were once linked to records in CRM that have been since deleted, or Exchange records that are associated with other CRM organizations.

Note: You can use EWS Editor to retrieve and inspect the given 'ExchangeEntryId' (as an Exchange ItemId) in Exchange Server.

Note: CRM creates these mappings with an IsDeletedInExchange value of 1, which can be misleading.

  • Profile Create Events: This checkbox allows the profiler to listen to incoming Create events for ACT items that have been picked up through the synchronization process for the specified mailbox. Examples of incoming create events include items tracked into CRM via 'Track in CRM' as well as duplicates (copy). These operations will be stored with a ToCrmChangeType of 1 and 6, respectively.

Please note that both of the above options are not dependent on any other filter criteria as long as a valid mailbox participating in ACT sync is specified.
